Meg's Diary
WHY I LIKE MORNINGS
Every morning I get up with Bob. First thing he does is smile at me, and talk to me. I love to hear people talk. It tickles my neck and my ears and makes my head do funny things—my ears perk up and it makes me twist my head so first one ear is up and then the other. But, I love that. AFter he talks awhile, I realize that he is saying words I understand, like "food", "puppy-chow", "hungry", and "breakfast". So I lick my lips to show that I understand—and off we go to eat.
Before I eat (and I LOVE to eat) I must wash my paws in the dew in the grass, so I go out the puppy door and WOW, it's another morning! So many new smells! So many little noises! I'd better check out my yard and see if anything changed while I was sleeping. So first I'll go see if anybody came into the yard overnight—so I check all along the fence, because sometimes Mrs. Possum or Mr. Raccoon sneaks under the fence. One time a bunny looked through the fence, but didn't come in. And, of course, there are always snakes that like to eat at night if it is warm enough. I walk slowly along the fence so I don't miss anything.
Oh. I see through the fence—the neighbor is washing his truck already this morning—I say hello to him: "bark, Bark, BARK-BARK, baaaaaarrrk!" But he ignores me. Oh well, back to smelling around the yard. OH! A new smell... what is that? Hmmmm, sniff sniff sniff. It is something that Mrs. Possum was carrying... It was probably a dead bird. Mrs. Possum often cleans the yard of any dead things. I have a wonderful time every morning in the yard, except every now and then it is so cold that my feet don't like it.
Well, after I make it all around the yard, I amble back through the puppy door. But, as soon as my nose goes through, I remember BREAKFAST! So, I run into the kitchen and Bob puts my bowl down and gives me a little pat, and I begin to eat.
Aren't mornings GREAT!?
