SNACK IS A GOOD WORD

I have learned that snack means good food sometime other than breakfast, lunch or dinner. Many times Snack is people food. I have snacked on crackers, meat scraps, corn chips, nuts, potato chips, cheeeese and popcorn.
As many of you already know, I will do anything for cheeeese. I have learned that there are many things that taste like cheese. I get to lick the cream cheese container clean. That also applies to the sour cream and yogurt containers. I will follow one of those containers to the moon to get the last drop licked clean. Why, Lain says, ”The container is clean enough to send back for a refill.” I am good at this. It is part of my job as dog of the house. It is a service I perform for my pack.
These things are not the only snacks I have tasted! Bob likes nuts. I prefer popcorn. Lain likes to have potato chips, the crunchy kind. I prefer popcorn. I will eat some chips but I prefer popcorn. When company comes, we have different foods for snack-- some of them are very tasty but I prefer popcorn. Bob makes the best popcorn. He pops it in peanut oil. Oh, a heavenly taste peanut oil. I like peanuts and peanut butter, so here we have a slight peanut taste. Then he adds butter, melted butter and he is not stingy. Next comes a light sprinkling of salt, not too much. None of us need too much salt. Can you see the tastes mounting up? Peanut, real butter and salt combined to perfection. Then comes the final crowning glory, cheeeese. Oh be still my tongue. We must wait for a few moments while the bowls are filled from the big bowl. A delightful snack, popcorn.
I do not eat popcorn that is just popcorn. It must be prepared by Bob at about 8 p.m. Stale popcorn is not on my menu. Popcorn without butter and salt is not on my menu. Microwave popcorn is NOT on MY menu. I make sure my pack has only the best. If Bob has forgotten something, I will not eat it until he fixes the batch. My job is a large and complicated one. I like to think that my pack benefits from my endeavors.

I’ve got sniffing to do. Talk to you later,
Emma Basset
