What is a Little Sister?

Day #1: My pack leaders, Lain and Bob, have been talking about a little sister. I have no idea what a little sister is, but they think it’s a good idea. We'll see about this. They also talk about a puppy girl. I’m Puppy Girl! Lain calls me Puppy Girl when she is talking to me sometimes. This puppy girl isn’t me! Bob and Lain talk about her all the time. I’m getting suspicious.

Day #2: Lain has been talking on the phone to people about this puppy girl, many, many phone calls. I can’t hear what the other person says, I just hear Lain. It seems to be all about this puppy girl coming to see us. Well, the little girl comes to see us. Oh, yes, I remember the little girl is the boy’s little sister. Okay, the little girl is coming to see us! Oh, happy, happy, joy, joy.

Day #3: Lain and some of her friends are going in the car. I don’t get to go. I like going in the car. The other people like me. Why can’t I go? They better bring some good treats home for me.
Lain and her friend are home. When Lain walked in the door, she had a puppy with her! A puppy that looks like my brothers and sisters from my original pack! Wow! This visitor is fun, but what about the little girl? I got it! The puppy is a girl and she is little. Could this be the puppy girl? Could this be my sister? How long will she stay? Will she eat my food? She does smell good. She also smells frightened.

I think I’ll see if she wants to play.
She did. She did. We ran around the house like crazy dogs, from the living room, to the dinning room, to the kitchen, to the living room. ‘Round and ‘round and round we ran. This is fun having a puppy girl visit.

Day #4: The puppy has a name. We call her Meg.
Meg has been very tired today. All she did was sleep. Lain said something about her having a long plane ride yesterday. I don’t know what a plane is but I know I like to ride in the car.

Day #5 I’m having second thoughts about this puppy. She eats MY food. She wants to sleep with ME. That’s not going to happen. She takes attention away from ME. She plays with MY toys. She bites! She even bites my ears! The ears are definitely off limits. I wish she would go home.
Day # 10: I’ve been too busy taking care of that puppy to write. She is a handful! She wants to play anytime she’s awake. She wants to eat several times a day. She bites! Lain tells her, “No bite.” But the puppy doesn’t listen. She bites everybody. We have modified her name. It is now Meg-a-Bite. There is one bite that is not so bad. She chews on my ears now instead of biting them. I kinda like that. I still wish she would go home!

Day #15: I have found out that Meg-a-Bite is staying! We are her new pack! Her pack got lost just like mine! Now she is part of our pack. She is the LITTLE SISTER!
Well, when I learned she wasn’t leaving, I started putting her in her place. She is not top dog. She will never be top dog. Lain is top dog. Meg seems to listen to me better than she listens to Lain. So, I help out with her training. Together we taught her to go out the puppy door. She likes the puppy door but she still pees in the house! I think she is getting it all wrong. She pees on the floor then runs out the puppy door! You’re supposed to run out the puppy door and pee in the yard. Lain and I keep telling her and telling her but she doesn’t get it!

Day #16: Today Lain brought a big fluffy pillow home for Meg. Now she will leave my pillow alone. Meg did have a little pillow from the couch because she is so little. She is growing very fast. This big pillow will be a good thing.
We are trying to teach her to, “Go lie down on your pillow.” Someday she will learn something. This little sister, big sister [that’s me] thing is tough. I am tired out everyday. I do kinda like her. She is fun to have around.

It’s late. Dinner is over. Meg-a-bite is sleeping. I’m going to bed. No extra sniffing tonight.

Talk to you later.
